Vehicles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

An important representative said the incident made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
